Mother's Day For Peace
Special Mother's Day event with live music, snacks, and a special guest!

Time & Location
May 06, 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Lansing, 1611 E Kalamazoo St, Lansing, MI 48912, USA
About the event
While the concept of Mother’s Day has devolved into a spectacle of  cards, flowers and brunches, it’s forgotten that the original intent of  that special day was to promote peace.
In fact, the original Mother’s Day was initiated by Julia Ward Howe  (she of Battle Hymn of the Republic fame) around 1870, hoping it would  be a day for mothers to campaign for an end to war following the carnage  of the American Civil War.
With that in mind, the Lansing Area Peace Education Center will hold a  special Mother’s Day event/fundraiser on Saturday, May 6. It is one of  the activities the center is holding this year as part of a celebration  of its half century of service in the Greater Lansing area.
This event will feature the popular local band Jackalope, and a special guest appearance by Julia Ward Howe herself!
Saturday, May 6 at 7 PM Allen Neighborhood Center 1611 E Kalamazoo St, Lansing
Snacks will be provided. Everyone is welcome! If you’d like to donate  to this PEC fundraiser, the suggested amount is $25. Payable at the door  or online HERE.
