This paper is submitted in response to the UNODA call for papers on ‘the impact of the global increase in military expenditure on the achievement of the sustainable development goals’ and illustrates the many ways in which the global military as a whole (primarily the top 20 military spenders and arms sellers) impact on the SDGs.
